Introductory Video

What is Surgiwiki? Surgiwiki is an attempt to replace the traditional surgical atlas.  The goal is to create a reference for surgeons to plan and review the technical conduct of operations.

Surgiwiki is comprised of two components: First, there are edited videos of operations.  Second, there are "surgeon's preference cards" which list the key equipment needed and describe the technical steps of the operation.  In some cards, the preferred postoperative care is spelled out.

Why a Wiki?
Techniques and equipment evolve over time.  The wiki format allows anyone to modify the "surgeon's preference card" in real-time so that the information contained therein becomes self-updating and self-correcting.  Go ahead!  Make a change.  The site is only as good as the end-user's willingness to edit and maintain it.

How to use this site
Look to the left of this screen.  You can browse the site by alphabet, or browse by category (organ systems).   You can also use the search box.   Feel free to add new wikis for operations not listed already.

Since every attending does things a little differently, we have generally created a separate wiki for every attending who performs a given procedure.  Feel free to cut and paste and create new wikis as needed.
